  1. The following is a collection of sound effects that I have edited using
  2. SoundBlaster's Wave Studio.  I think that they are much more intense
  3. than the original sounds included with Doom.  Just unzip into your Doom
  4. directory and use the batch file listed below.

  6. The files contained are:
  7.  
  8. boom1.wav - a new explosion sound
  9. bang.wav  - a new plasma gun sound
  10. bear.wav  - an extended growl that I use for the Barons dying, but is
  11.   also effective for when he spots you
  12. fire.wav  - a crackling fire sound for fireballs
  13. shock.wav - new teleport sound adapted from - um - you know, one of
  14.   those things they electrocute you with when your dying, I don't
  15.   even know what it's called.

  17. sound.bat - a batch file that lets you easily install the sounds
  18.   contained herein.  just type 'sound' in your Doom directory and it
  19.   extracts the original sounds (as *.raw, with the '*' being the number
  20.   of the sound) and stores them in your directory, and then puts in
  21.   the new sounds.

  23. turnoff.bat - this batch file will reinstall your original Doom sounds.

  25. sound.txt - Your reading it!

  28. ATTENTION:  You need DMAUD to run this program.  DMAUD is available in 
  29. this library under 'dmaud.zip'.

  39. found these sounds to be excellent, and have used them for a while
  40. (I apologize to the submitter of those sounds for not remembering his
  41. name).
